Morrison Chamber Welcomes You!

On behalf of the Morrison Chamber of Commerce and the residents of Morrison, welcome to our community!

The City of Morrison, IL, has approximately 4,200 residents and is located 45 miles northeast of the Quad Cities metropolitan area at the intersection of Illinois Route 78 and U.S. Route 30. We have easy access to the Mississippi River, shopping, restaurants, and entertainment while maintaining our hometown congeniality. The area surrounding Morrison is agricultural and residential in nature.

Morrison is well served by a strong school district that provides quality education to the youth of the community from kindergarten through 12th grade. Two preschools and a community day care center provide a solid social and learning foundation for youngsters. Opportunities for higher education can be found locally and regionally at Morrison Institute of Technology, Sauk Valley Community College, Clinton Community College, Augustana College and Western Illinois University/Quad Cities.

Recreational opportunities include fishing, picnicking, camping, horseback riding, and walking the trails at Rockwood State Park; ball diamonds; and several city parks featuring a 9-hole Frisbee golf course and a new state-of-the-art recreational complex. Other recreational facilities include two public golf courses offering challenging fairways and beautiful vistas, a batting cage, fitness centers, and an off-road racing facility. A recreational trail for walking, running and biking enthusiasts connects the community to Rockwood State Park and we proudly boast a unique covered bridge.

Morrison is an historic community (founded in 1855) that has retained its hometown character and charm. Downtown revitalization efforts led by businesses and the City of Morrison have resulted in the retention and preservation of most of the town’s original structures and historically accurate, downtown street lighting. Most recently, Morrison’s Main Street corridor was added to the National Registry of Historic Places. Some unique features of Morrison are the historic round barn on the Whiteside County Fairgrounds and the Lincoln Highway, the first transcontinental highway of the U.S., which runs through the heart of the community.

Morrison has excellent access to medical care with a hospital, three medical clinics, two dentists, two optometrists, three chiropractors, and three long-term care centers, as well as two assisted living facilities. A regional network of hospitals in nearby Sterling, IL, and Clinton, IA, also provide a broad spectrum of quality medical services.

Our community offers a variety of organizations that would welcome your participation such as the Morrison Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, Rotary, Morrison Historical Society, Friends of the Odell Public Library, scouting troops, 4-H, dance and gymnastic studios, PTO, garden club, and athletic leagues for all ages.
